Dave C. had the entire car stripped and painted after someone side-swiped the car.
He even replaced the chrome molding strips!

V8 arrives with new tricked pearl white paint job. Dave repaired some major body damage, replaced many parts, and completely dismantled the car to prepare for its new paint. He had it painted before he brought it to us because he wanted to make sure that those careless painters didn't scratch up our meticulous motor installation job! We purchased the fender covers specifically for this situation (there was already some touch up planned so we won't get scolded too severely if there are a couple of nicks in the engine compartment - whew!).

Rack boot dry-rotted and split. This is the perfect time to replace the boot or the entire rack - the additional labor is about half the cost with the car disassembled.

4.2 in car with new timing belt service completed.
**This is also a great time for this service because of the labor savings.

4.2 and Euros installed.
More pictures on the way...

Update: The car is running now with a 4.2 exhaust system modification, Euro relayed headlights, and A4 sport steering wheel. The larger and straighter tips look much better and it didn't smoke at all when first started - a good sign!

Modifications:
  • 4.2 ABH motor swap w/ new timing belt, associated pulleys, etc.
  • 5-speed 3.6 PT ECU; IA chip (not installed yet)
  • 6-puck carbon clutch disc
  • Mobil 1 w/ Mahle filter
  • Autolite double platinum plugs
  • K&N air filter (routinely maintained)
  • R134 A/C conversion; new compressor & accumulator; pusher fan
  • Flap spring repair
  • New hi-pressure hydraulic line
  • Rebuilt alternator
  • New knock sensors, FPR, ISV, motor mounts, pcv hoses
  • Converted back to OE steering wheel for now
  • Adjustable Koni / H&R springs; 1.3" drop

Another 3.6 to 4.2 conversion example:

Mark's beautiful '91 Quattroä below began as a 5-speed 3.6, then GermanAutoConnection installed a modified 4.2 chipped with sport cams, 3" exhaust, and Wilwood brakes. His 4.2 5-speed has sport seats, Momo steering wheel, etc. etc. etc.  Imagine how much more fun it is to drive now!
